CREATE A PROFILE

To create a verified account, you will be asked for: 

Your basic information

Valid government ID 

A selfie on your phone

pre-disaster

REGISTER AS A HOST, GUEST, OR BOTH

Depending on what you choose to register for, the additional information we ask from you may differ. Click the links below for more details on hosting/guesting steps.

  

If you are looking to be just a host, we still encourage you to also sign up for the guest registrar. We much rather you be safe than sorry!

and...you're done!

Once you are finished registering, all you have to do now is to hang tight. Hopefully you won't hear back from us but if you do, it will be when a disaster has hit your area. We will send you a push notification to see if you still want to be involved. Once we hear back from you, we move to the post-disaster phase.

A push notification will be sent to you with information on your local disaster. Whether you are a host or a guest, we will double check your interest and ask you to:

We understand that at times of a disaster, your personal wellbeing is most important. Before you choose to be involved, take a second to make sure this is what you want. Daruma will never force you to make decision you are not certain about.

GET READY TO

BE MATCHED

So that we can most fairly allocate homes to guests and ensure matches are the best we can arrange, we will wait 48 hours after the disaster to make our pairings. While you wait, take this time to learn a little more about the disaster and about space sharing. Our handbook might be helpful to review at this time!

ARRANGE TO MEET

Once a match is made, Daruma will share contact info via the platform for you to get to know each other. You will be responsible for coordinating the meet up, unless guests don't have access to a device. We recommend hosts to try to arrange a pick-up near where the guest is evacuating. 

HOSTING BEGINS!

Now that you have successfully introduced yourselves and the home, the hosting begins. We don't expect anything  beyond shelter support, so both hosts and guests should continue on with their life with no added responsibilities.
